Dear Friends,
We want to describe to you a project that we cannot do alone. We are hoping for community help.
Anthroposophic, homeopathic and for that matter of fact all natural health fields suffer of one overwhelming deficiency: no research laboratory in which basic questions of natural medicine can be investigated in an effective, cost efficient, affordable manner.
Such a research should ideally show the working of spiritual forces in the physical world.
We are ready to build such a lab!
Establishing a laboratory that would engage in such research has been a goal of ours since we incorporated the not for profit 501(c)3, True Botanica Foundation—actually, since we founded the True Botanica company over seven years ago.
In fact we are now at the point where we can go beyond initial experiments and hope for a meaningful expansion of the experimental work.
Several projects are contemplated (chromatography, analysis of salts and ashes of plants, etc) but here is just one example of what could be done in such a lab:
Most immediate and most important is the work that would continue the investigator L. Kolisko’s work on the influence of various potencies on biological systems.
Anthroposophic and homeopathic remedies have been in use for over a hundred years. They have been reasonably effective- sometimes spectacularly so- and their use by hundreds and thousands of people has never been able to be stopped by governmental agencies. However, their full potential has not yet been quite realized. A fundamental question has always been lingering in the background: how can we determine the correct strength, “potency” or dilution level of a substance.
This issue is all the more astonishing since the great researcher Rudolf Steiner has given clear indications for the solution to this problem to his co-worker Lily Kolisko already in the 1920’s.
She started, but never finished, exploring the question of finding the most active potency of a substance on a biological systems through seed germination, and similar experiments.
Rudolf Steiner valued this work so highly that he had her present her work during the Christmas Foundation Meeting-arguably the most important event of his incredible life.
Clearly, if we should be able to demonstrate these principles in a scientifically acceptable manner it would revolutionize the work with potentized substances.
We are ready to tackle this and other challenges in a brand new laboratory dedicated exclusively to anthroposophic, homeopathic and holistic medicine.
We envision a multitude of experiments and significant work has already been accomplished.
We intend to continue and expand her studies. Obviously being able to find the “right” potency for our remedies is a core question for anthroposophical medicine and it may very well revolutionize the entire homeopathic world too. This is an opportunity to really “own” this scientific answer and make a substantial contribution that the world would have to acknowledge comes from the anthroposophical method of thinking.
We have developed the “Kolisko” project to the point of having a modest facility where the first germination studies have been done. As you can see in the graphs (one of which is here below) each of these studies require thousands of measurements. (For one recent “germination curve” done with Natrium muriaticum over 10,000(!) measurements were required.) As mentioned before, in the future a cell culture laboratory and more will be needed in order to bring the work up to the modern standards of scientific reproducibility and statistical validation.

The beginnings of the lab are already there:
• We have a modest facility;
• We have begun experiments that are very promising –and may change the way we look worldwide at homeopathically derived medicines!
• Doctors are volunteering their work for this research oriented project;
But we need your help!
Can you help?
We are asking for help from the community that has formed around the TB Company and Foundation to make this concept a reality.
We are now at a crossroads!
To launch this project properly we need to raise $ 250,000 –for equipment, hiring of personnel, etc.
Since this is a “not for profit” endeavor, a grass roots effort is the only way for us to go.
But we have come to the limit of what we can do alone. The TB Company is just breaking even (no additional discretionary funds there we are afraid, sorry) and donations have been few. (We are EXTREMELY grateful to all the help up to now without which we would not be here at all!)
Up to now the costs have been carried by the True Botanica Company, (which is unfortunately struggling in its own right to increase the understanding for its anthroposophically oriented health products), by us personally, and some small contributions.
A serious fundraising effort is now needed and that is why we are making this effort to let all our friends know about this need in case you had not heard about this project before.
Any donations (tax deductable) are gratefully accepted and will make a huge difference!
But of course we hope you will be as generous as your personal situation allows.This is a big project, it can have significance for many years to come and every dollar counts! Even if you can donate only one dollar this will show community support and help us.
If everybody who can afford it would contribute just a couple of hundred dollars we could make this possible even sooner. We already have a matching grant of up to $50,000; one dollar for every two dollars donated.
We believe that this would be a worthy project to gather around.
Who would not benefit from remedies that would be more effective because the BEST potency is arrived at?
This is not a project for a single individual or for the benefit of a “sect” but rather a service to humanity at large; it would answer a need the world has.
Common ideals and aspirations have built cathedrals and hospitals and universities. Certain projects require that individuals work together for a common goal. This is one such vision.
